Department of Japanese Language and Literature

Undergraduate Program

Established in 1999, the department enrolled one-class students, becoming the second university setting up the Japanese Department in Central Taiwan then. In the following year, it was approved to enroll two-class students. Currently there are eight classes in total with more than 1500 graduates.


Graduate Program

The program, established in academic year 2011, aims to foster Japanese teachers in senior high schools or vocational high schools, researchers in studies of Taiwan and Japan, and professionals in advanced Japanese translation. The research fields include Japanese linguistics, Japanese language teaching, Japanese literature, cultural studies in Taiwanese and Japanese societies, and Chinese-Japanese interpretation and translation.
