The Department of Chinese Literature was established in 1963. In 1996, a Master's Program was successfully launched and the Executive Master of Chinese Literature founded in 2006. The objective of the Department of Chinese Literature over the past 50 years has been to explore China and carry forward human civilization which is based on the foundation in Taiwan.
The Department of Chinese Literature is based on both classical and modern Chinese language training. Moreover, the education is to strengthen the Chinese proficiency and to cultivate talents professional learning of ancient knowledge and the application of such skills in the modern society. The education emphasizes both on cultural creativity as well as literary communication. The department cooperates with other literary and media groups to integrate with the current trend of employment.
Our department has excellent teachers and great resources of facilities including the research laboratories of Ming-Qing Studies and Han culture which promotes the teaching and research of Ming-Qing Studies and Han culture.
