The department is devoted to fostering professionals in financial theories, financial mathematics, and investment practice. Signing a dual-degree program with the Department of Finance, the students in this section have a chance to gain dual degrees in the Financial Engineering Section, Department of Financial and Computational Mathematics, and the Department of Finance.

The courses aims at equipping students with basic applied mathematics ability, rigorous logical reasoning ability, and excellent scientific computing capability, covering mathematical/statistical ability and tools, information and computing ability, as well as the applications in each field and industry practice training, such as applications in finance, information science/big data, and biomedicine, and providing relevant industry practice opportunity. Students in this section will be given guidance in passing relevant important licenses, such as RHCSA and RHCE of Linux and Java of Oracle and database.
