Providence University, Taiwan and Silliman University, Philippines: A New and Exciting Partnership

     Providence University is delighted to announce its new partnership with Silliman University. On December 5, 2019 the President of Providence University, Dr. Augustine Chuan -Yi Tang, and the President of Silliman University, Dr. Betty Cernol McCann, signed an agreement expressing their desire for the respective institutions to collaborate. The agreement will allow for academic exchange and joint research among faculty and students. Sister Dawn Tomaszewski, General Superior of the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, USA (standing left) and Prof. Dr. Ir. Y. Budi Widianarko of Soegijapranata University, Semarang, Indonesia (standing right) witnessed the signing of the agreement.      After the signing ceremony, Dr. Tang and Dr. Cernol McCann exchanged gifts.

     Prior to the signing agreement ceremony, Dr. Cernol McCann, Sr. Tomaszewski and Dr. Widianarko had the opportunity to tour the campus engage with students. Dr. Philip Lin and Mr. Mark Lan served as guides and translators.

     On the second day of the two day visit to Providence, the intertnational guests attended the dedication of the new Our Lady of Providence Chapel. Ms. Kelly Chiu ( second picture on right), served as Dr. McCann's companion and translator.

     During the celebratory luncheon, Dr. McCann, Dr. Sr. Anne Therese Flakenstein, Fr. Andres Diaz de Rabago and President Aloysius Chen enjoyed engaging in conversation. Laslty, Sr. Anne Therese, Dr. Tang, Charge D'Affairs A.I. Monsignor Arnaldo Catalan, Most Rev. Bishop Martin Yao Wen Su, Dr. McCann and Dr. Widianarko posed for the picture below.
