Providence University in Taichung warmly welcomed faculty and students from its Japanese partner institution today. University President Dr. Ssu-Ling Lin delivered the welcome remarks, highlighting the close academic and cultural collaboration that has been established since 2015. She also expressed her appreciation to Vice President Takeshi Mitsunaga for his long-standing efforts in promoting exchange programs that have deepened the ties between both institutions.
Distinguished guests at the welcome ceremony included Vice President for International Affairs Dr. Philip Lin, Ms. Kelly Chiu from the Office of International Affairs, Professor Ai Katsurada from the Department of Japanese Language and Literature, and Japanese language students, who all joined the day’s activities.
The program featured a wide range of academic and cultural experiences, including a VR demonstration hosted by the Department of Artificial Intelligence Applications, interactive sessions with Japanese language students, and a Taiwanese language workshop where visitors learned to introduce themselves in the local dialect. Guests also toured the Providence University Library—recognized as one of the most unique libraries in Taiwan—and visited the campus chapel. As a Catholic institution, Providence University holds regular Masses in both Chinese and English and celebrates Christmas with a lighting ceremony and festive events, creating a warm and joyful campus atmosphere.
President Lin concluded by expressing her hopes that this visit would provide both meaningful and memorable experiences for all participants. She also looked forward to more opportunities for collaboration and exchange in the future.
