Promoting Academic Collaboration, Student Development, and Educational Innovation

Providence University and Fukushima University of Japan have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and a student exchange agreement, aiming to promote academic collaboration, student development, and educational innovation. This partnership seeks to strengthen ties between the two universities in international education and social practice.

During the signing ceremony, President Szu-Ling Lin of Providence University expressed her gratitude to Fukushima University President Miura Hiroki and his team for their warm arrangements. She recalled that the cooperation originated from a visit by Fukushima University’s International Exchange Center to Providence University in March 2025, which led to the MOU signing and the offer of JASSO scholarships to Providence students.

President Lin highlighted Fukushima University’s education philosophy of “problem-based learning.” In particular, Fukushima’s proactive community support and establishment of the Environmental Radioactivity Research Institute following the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake demonstrated a strong commitment to social responsibility and forward-looking educational ideals, earning deep respect.

Providence University has long adhered to the philosophy of “serving society and caring for people,” promoting interdisciplinary learning and innovative teaching. It has developed a “Gen Z Learning Path” to cultivate students’ self-directed learning and practical skills. President Lin emphasized that this collaboration will further deepen exchanges in educational innovation, regional development, social well-being, and sustainable growth. She also expressed hopes to learn from Fukushima’s advanced initiatives in regional future design and agricultural science research, jointly nurturing young talents with global vision and local engagement.

Providence University sincerely invites President Miura and Fukushima University’s team to visit Taichung in the future to continue expanding the depth and breadth of cooperation, marking a new chapter in Taiwan-Japan higher education exchange.
